Visual Artist Valerie O’Flynn
C.V. V. O’Flynn Stratford

Artist's statement:
My themes are social and sometimes political, my materials often sculptural, printed, painted, or
mixed media. With so many things that take the time and attention of people on a day to day
basis, issues on societal structure are at the periphery of many lives & last on the priority list. I
choose to shine a light on some issues I see as important and feel deserve a second look, or ones
that our better selves would have us do something about. I also engage in celebrating the things
we do value, sometimes nature, sometimes those better or greater selves, ie., Glenn Gould; or
Brian Dennehy’s work at the Stratford Festival. Recent pieces address these themes: issues-
Revel in our...; Busy Bees; In a celebratory theme: the power and beauty in nature and
inspiration we find in some people- Hero worship #4 Brian Dennehy; and Harvest moon.
